Technical Lead - B2C
The Technical Lead is responsible for producing quality software solutions, products, and documentation according to functional and non-functional specifications as well as the team's software development practices. Responsible for the technical mentorship of other team members and providing technical solutions to the Senior Engineering Manager which will help with the smooth running of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analysing requirements and designing software components, under supervision, that meet business requirements and standards.
- Development, release, and maintenance of multiple, integrated software components that meet the agreed design.
- Development and optimisation of automated functional and non- functional tests, tools, and artefacts.
- Creation and maintenance of documentation.
- Solve engineering productivity problems.
- Review process performance measures and recommend improvements.
- Participation in code reviews within own team.
- Ensuring software quality across multiple, integrated software products and components.
- Building the foundational building blocks of the software product's continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline.
- Ensuring adequate functional and non-functional quality gates exist throughout the pipeline.
- Estimation of the effort required for own work.
- Resolution of issues related to the functionality of software products. Communication of work status and escalation of risks that may compromise on-time and quality delivery.
Software Design:
- Understand the requirements that must be met in the design of a feature.
- Can conduct a technical analysis of the work required.
- Understands the team standards for design documentation.
- Understands software design standards and patterns in software design.
- Software Development & Maintenance:
- Understands the development standards, SDLC and software development methodology.
- Skilled in the development of clear and testable solutions for integrated software components.
- Knows how to ensure quality and adequate test coverage for integrated software components.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and bug fixing for an integrated software component.
- Understand and optimise performance and security for integrated software components.
- Knowledge of multiple technologies.
Domain Knowledge:
- Technical understanding of the team's product.
- Understanding of product infrastructure, including setup, configuration, and installation.
- Understanding of production environment and direct dependencies.
- Basic understanding of your product stakeholders and how your product is consumed.
- Development Processes:
- Understanding of software development, build and deployment processes.
- Can troubleshoot build and deployment issues for a product.
- Skilled in creating the build and deployment processes, including quality gates.
Technical competencies, knowledge & experience:
- 7+ years of software development experience
- 3 years of experience in the gaming industry is preferable
- Strong analytical and commercial experience
- You are a strong people manager with demonstrable skills and experience in influencing other teams and a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- You possess an application development background and have a deep understanding of scalable systems.
- You have built systems in high-level programming languages such as C# or TypeScript.
- You have a strong understanding of web technologies including React, CSS frameworks, CDN services et al.
- You have a strong understanding of code optimization and maintainability for the web.
- You have a strong understanding of CI/CD including Build Pipelines using YML, trunk-based development, Green/Blue deployments et al.
- You have some cloud infrastructure experience e. g. , Azure, AWS, GCP or similar.
- You can influence others by creating a participative, empowered environment and can create high performance environments for teams, empowering both teams and individuals.
- You can provide technical mentorship for the team and individuals.
- You can manage high performance in a fast-paced environment and can deal with stressful situations in a calm and effective manner.
- You are focused on the realization of objectives and can set and achieve ambitious goals.
- You are curious and seek to understand the big picture business objectives and have the ability to craft plans to realize these business objectives.
