About the job
This position is needed to expand the Voice Media team.
Twilio is seeking a Backend Software Engineer on the Voice Media team. You will join a cross functional team and collaborate with Product Manager, Architects, and a talented group of engineers to build, optimize, and scale voice media framework to add value to Twilio customers. This engineer will work as part of a team that will own, operate, and maintain the teams’ services in a highly scalable distributed production environment.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
Build, evaluate, deploy and iterate on large scale data, pipelines and services.
Develop services for RTP, VOIP, WebRTC, and streaming media.
Deploy and operate cloud services for scalability, reliability, and availability to support Twilio’s global customer community.
Participate and provide feedback during sprint planning sessions and retrospectives.
Participate in quarterly program increment planning and deliver project milestones.
Wear the customer’s shoes and begin each day by putting them first.
Embrace documenting your ideas, plans and updates to collaborate with your co-workers.
Lead or assist in all aspects of software development, validation, and operation.
Empower others to deliver a meaningful product to the customers.
Qualifications

Required:
3+ years of software development experience with cloud application development.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related industry experience
Successful track record of delivering and maintaining reliable, scalable, traceable and performant distributed systems to customers in a production cloud environment
Experience with:
Java, C, C++ or Rust with experience in concurrent programming
Excellent understanding of IP networking.
Implementing server-side services for SIP, RTP/SRTP, VoIP, WebRTC, streaming media or real-time communication protocols
Excellent written and verbal communication skills - You are confident in writing down and presenting your designs and decisions throughout the development lifecycle. You are also comfortable providing and receiving feedback in an Agile environment
5+ years of software development experience with cloud application development.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related industry experience
Developing microservices in containerized environments.
Experience with building communications servers, streaming services, or media broadcasting solutions.
Testing and tuning services to meeting customer SLAs.
Location
This role will be based in our Madrid office or remotely in Spain.
