We work hard — and we reward success with exceptional opportunity. What you’ll do:This analyst creates thought leading research for Software Engineering Leaders around the world. S/he publishes original research, speaks with clients directly, presents at global events and delivers client engagements virtually or in person. This position requires you to be a life-long learner with the versatility to quickly adjust to rapidly changing trends around software engineering. It is critical to have deep experience in Cloud Native development and Cloud Migration, a growth mindset, and an insatiable curiosity for the impact that software engineering groups have on the world. Knowledge and experience developing “cloud native” software on leading platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP is essential, while a solid background in related technologies including containers (e. g. Docker), container orchestration (e. g. Kubernetes), serverless platforms, APIs, microservices, and service mesh is highly valuable. Our Software Engineering Leader and IT leader clients need actionable advice on how to shift their teams’ culture, practices and technology to support modern Cloud Native development of digital products and platforms that drive their business success. As a Gartner analyst, you will deliver thought-leading research that equips Software Engineering Leaders to position their teams for maximum success. You will meet with clients every day: on the phone, in video-conference meetings, from the stage at a Gartner event, or face-to-face during an on-site engagement. In every client interaction, analysts help clients solve difficult (organizational and technical) challenges that lead to better business performance. To support these conversations you will research markets, practices, and trends, and produce research for Gartner clients to apply to their mission critical priorities:Conduct research and analysis to uncover Cloud Native development and integration trends and best practices. Deliver high-quality actionable advice through a variety of media (for example, video recordings, written research). Write provocative and pragmatic research that is clear and actionable. Create and deliver presentations for webinars, onsite engagements and Gartner conferences. Track vendors, market trends and emerging practices to remain ahead of the curve within these areas, and adjacent spaces (e. g. digital transformation, culture change, and quality practices). Promote Gartner’s industry leadership reputation by handling press inquiriesDeliver outstanding sales support in order to retain and grow the Gartner businessWhat you’ll need:It helps to be obsessed with Cloud Native trends and technologies. Gartner analysts are viewed as THE experts. You need to know your markets, vendors, trends, team practices, etc. and be able to see the forest and the trees. Most Gartner analysts have many years of hands-on experience and enjoy solving complex problems for the world’s biggest companies. You’ll need:Subject matter expertise, with demonstrated knowledge of best practices for Cloud Native development and integration as detailed above. Ability to formulate and articulate technology and business adoption scenarios that help senior technology leaders assess the opportunities, risks, and best approaches for modernizing their software engineering organization. Vertical industry knowledge is a plus, especially in banking / financial services, retail, recent automotive industry or other cyber-physical contexts, or in related firms such as digital agencies. Ability to collaborate with colleagues that cover application architecture and integration, product management, as well as with industry-specific analysts. Demonstrated analytical skills, applying conceptual models, and recognizing patterns to draw and defend conclusions. Strong business acumen is required for this position. Articulate and succinct communication skills. Experience in publishing and doing speaking engagements is an advantage. Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the indicated cloud-native platforms as a software engineering leader and/or practitioner, or in product management or through direct consulting engagement in this context. Overall relevant experience of at least 12 years is required. Bachelor's or equivalent experience, preferably Computer Science or related field, a graduate degree is a plus.
