Due to sustained growth and upcoming Project requirements, Austal currently has an opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Naval Base in a permanent and full-time capacity.
The Maintenance Engineer’s role will be to understand and analyse technical equipment documentation, function and performance requirements, and then to derive comprehensive maintenance plans that will assist to preserve the asset’s integrity and hence maximise the life of the asset.
Key objectives & responsibilities include:
- Perform ongoing maintenance engineering analysis and review, and ensure maintenance tasks are balanced for effective asset preservation vs lowest life-cycle cost
- Analyse the maintenance resource packages by undertaking resource evaluations and trade-offs to determine optimum locations, personnel, and resource requirements
- Ensure developed maintenance tasks are complete and fully defined
- Document maintenance procedures and ensure they are easy to read, comply with relevant standards and are based on current and authorised technical data
- Conduct maintenance investigations to identify any deficiencies in existing maintenance and to optimise the life of the asset, as well as asset reliability and maintainability
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
- Hold a Bachelor of Engineering Mechanical or equivalent qualification
- Have a minimum of five years relevant experience in maintenance engineering
- Maritime experience would be highly desirable
- Possess excellent computer skills, and knowledge of required Maintenance systems
- Understanding the importance and role of data in the logistics program is essential
- Have outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Comfortable taking ownership of assigned tasks
- Ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Be well organised and self-motivated, as well as being task and goal driven
- Possess a can-do attitude and be happy to go the extra mile
- Work with people at all levels and across a variety of disciplines within the business
