Lead Project Engineer
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks an experienced Project Engineer who has a strong blend of project management and technical skills related to selecting, setting, and commissioning protective relays in transmission and distribution substation environments. Successful candidates will have experience with various protection functions including distance, differential, and over-current protection. In addition, experience in industrial protection (generator or motor protection) or other sectors is preferred. In this position, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with technical experts from around the world and develop some of the the most innovative protection and control systems in the industry. Responsibilities1) Possesses, understands and applies knowledge and experience of power system protectionand related SEL products to complete complex assignments. 2) Lead in training and assisting customers with the creation, design configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems. 3) Lead in assigning, completing and implementing work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety. 4) Assist in the identification, preparation and presentation of successful proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems. 5) Mentor and develop professional staff. May supervise as necessary. 6) Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles. 7) Understand. Create. Simplify. 8) Other duties as assigned. QualificationsB. S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline5+ years relevant application experience with electric power systems, industry practices, and protection practices and philosophiesGood knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration and/or automation and communications applicationsWorking knowledge of electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology and protective relay applicationsWilling to travel both domestically and internationally a minimum of 25%Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills in Spanish and EnglishAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilitiesAbility to work cooperatively in a team environmentPreferred QualificationsElectrical utility, industrial plant, consulting engineering, or system integrator experienceProject management experienceWorking knowledge of Vision or other project management tracking softwareMultilingual in other European languagesLocation InformationThis position is located in our Madrid, Spain office near the Cuatro Torres business area.
