FOR ONE OF OUR SPANISH BATTERY TECHNOLOGY ASSET WE ARE SEARCHING: CTONo matter which country you’re in, the transition from and economy based on fossil fuels to one based on sustainable energy sources is well underway. It takes slightly different approaches, and it progresses from different starting points depending on the area, but it’s clear, we’re all engaged in a global shared “electrification" challenge. The company’s mission is to develop sustainably the best battery materials and cells that will make possible the mass deployment of electric transportation, stationary energy storage and advanced portable devices. Our proprietary solid-state battery technology will allow us to develop and commercialize safe, high performance and affordable products for a diverse portfolio of customers, from mobility, stationary energy storage and consumer electronics. To this end, we offer the position ofChief Technology Officer. JOB DESCRIPTIONReporting directly to the CEO and as the company’s second-in-command, CTO will coordinate the company's activities from TRL1 to the product engineering for customers, ensuring that the cross-cutting nature of the different departments works fluently. Therefore, the CTO will be responsible for:Leading the technology department of the company. Defining the technical strategy of the company under the mandate of the CEO and the board of directors: outlining the company's technological vision, implementing technology strategies, and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company's business needsManage the technical structure for the achievement of the company targets. Recruiting and managing an international team of experts covering different engineering disciplines (mechanical, chemical, organisational, simulation) required to manufacture electrolytes, cells and potentially battery modules. Making executive technology decisions on behalf of the company, including managing a technology budget and making investments to align the company with its vision for its technological needs. The CTO is also expected to work as a team member, to ensure the smooth operations and long-term prospects of the company as a whole. WHAT WE NEEDWe are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual capable of taking up this challenging opportunity to develop an ambitious project. Applicants should have a high degree of initiative and should be open to intense interdisciplinary collaboration. We are thinking in a person with 15-20 years of experience in managing lithium battery R&D, who has currently reached senior management levels in a corporate structure but that at the same time is willing to join an early start-up. Applicants must demonstrate an internationally recognized technical career path, including having led teams of technology experts with different levels of seniority. The candidate should have a deep understanding of the lithium battery sector and in particular about solid-state battery electrolytes. Credible person capable of explaining with conviction the details of the technology roadmap to investors and customers. The strong technical expertise needs to be complemented by a very good capability to manage large teams in complex matrix organizations. Specifically, we will assess expertise in the following aspects:Bachelors or master’s degree in Engineering, Material science, Solid-state Chemistry and Electrochemistry, with a long-term vision in solid state batteries. Mastery and long-term vision in solid state batteriesExtensive experience in the field of battery R&D and engineering (15+ years)Demonstrated group leadership and management track record, including communication, teamwork, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Project-oriented person to manage resources effectively, find solutions and achieve goals. We expect high readiness to work with strong engagement and creativity in an interdisciplinary and international environment.
